The MB AIOTA invites Occupational Therapists, OT interns and Final Year OT Students to attend the Seminar on
 “Gaming Technology and Habilitation”
(Kinetic, PS & Wii as a therapy tool of Occupational Therapy.)
on 13.03.2015 from 12.30 to 2.30 pm.

About the Topic:
Wii Nintendo, Kinetic and Play Station–eye toy systems have motion sensor games which rely on accurate movements of the player to affect the outcome of the game. Using body gestures or the console's unique, motion-sensitive controller, these games require cognitive processing and body movements similar to those used in traditional therapy exercises. Video games help reduce the monotony of repetitive exercise, making the process more enjoyable.

These gaming devices which are very popular today can be used by an Occupational Therapist to design skilled therapeutic programsfor persons with Developmental, Neurological and Orthopedic Conditions to achieveVisio- motor planning, agility, range of movements, strength, stability and related goals. The inbuilt assessment and recording software can aid a therapist quantify progress of the goals achieved.
